Plus I didn't really agree with it either. I get the message that it's trying to send, but there's no need to be so blatant and over the top with the delivery. The Otaku Pandering: I stopped watching after the episode where Kyosuke monologued to his dad about eroge. Watching Kirino constantly badger Kyosuke into doing something, then him going out of his way to do it just felt forced and unnatural to me, not to mention annoying. As others have noted above Kirino was excessively bitchy and bipolar, while Kyosuke alternated between imitating a doormat and aggressively white knighting for her. However, their characters and relationship just didn't work. Kirino's "tsun" attitude to her big brother was more realistic and interesting than the more common "adoring little sister" archetype, and Kyosuke's desire to mend his relationship with his sister was easy to emphasize with. The Lead Characters: There were elements I liked about Kirino and Kyosuke and their relationship. There were two big problems I had with it: Tried watching this show a while back but couldn't get past the first few episodes. A deep story and romance that sadly gets overcast by the weak female lead and eh comedy. Those who like a deeper story might want to at least tackle a season, those you don't care this at all. Of course fans of romantic comedies should watch this, it's right up your alley. I can't say more, since it would spoil the ending, but the ending is great.(Please do not spoil this if you comment on this.) It takes a long time to reach any signs of real romance. well the romance is probably one of the best I've seen. ![]() Other than that, they're are a few other "funny" bits, but they usually fail. As a big anime fan, I find this hilarious and very relatable, as I've had situations like this before. Most of the comedy revolves around Kirino and Ruri debating over which anime genres are best. The comedy is alright, but it really helps if your an anime fan. They can also really pay attention to detail as well. Kirino's hair seems to be a favorite point of the artist, as it is almost always shining. The others are far more interesting with their personalities.Īrt work is pretty solid. Sadly, Kirino never really evolves beyond Tsundere, which is bumming since she is the main female character. They may fall somewhat into stereotypes, but they do tend to have personalities of their own. She gets an amazing arc in the second season putting to light her mysterious past. And lastly, and my personal favorite, Saori Makishima. Manami Tamura, is Kyosuke's long time childhood friend. ![]() She doesn't play a big role early on, but gets a larger role at a later date. Ayase Aragaki is Kirino's school and modeling friend. Her and Kirino frequently clash to their differing taste in anime. She suffers from a mild form of Eight-Graders Syndrome and dresses up and acts like her favorite anime character. Ruri Goko is a member of the anime club Kirino and Kyosuke join. Joining Kyosuke and Kirino is a fun bunch of characters. Otherwise, it's not much more than a romantic-comedy with a dash of drama. I didn't come to this conclusion while watching the show, it was many months after, but the story is solid if you get deep. It's a show about coming to terms with who you are, that true friends stick by you no matter what, and that sometimes you have to let things go. It's not just a comedy, with a brother-sister love thing going on. If I can get deep for a second. The show on the outside appears to be so much less than it really is. Overall, I find the story to be very good. Over the course of the two seasons and OVAs, Kyosuke helps his little sister come to terms as to who she is through "life-lessons". She loves visual novels(especially of the little sister kind), loves anime, and collects everything from figurines to DVDs. He learns that his perfect sister has a slight "flaw". He's curious as to whom the disc belongs to, as he isn't an anime watcher. One day, Kyosuke finds an anime DVD lying around his house. Beautiful, smart, athletic, tons of friends, and so much more. His younger sister, Kirino on the other hand is a total stand out. He doesn't really excel at anything, he has a younger sister who his parents adore, and he's plain as a board. Our protagonist, Kyosuke Kosaka, is a standard high school student and seventeen year old boy. ![]() The game has also received a visual novel adaptation. Getting a complete a complete anime adaption, in the form of two seasons and two, three-part OVAs. Published from 2008-2013, the series received a large amount of attention from Japanese Otaku. Oreimo is based off light novels of the same name, written by Tsukasa Fushimi. One has tons of sex bordering on hentai levels, the other is a deeper story. Oreimo(the shortened name of the anime I'm reviewing) and Yosuga no Sora. When you mention incest in front of an anime fan, they're most likely going to get two shows in mind.
